Retail/Self checkout
Self-checkout software
Raptool Self-Checkout turns a touch screen into a checkout. Customers scan or search their items, see the basket and pay, on the same items, prices and stock as the rest of your store.

Why self-checkout
Self-checkout is no longer an experiment. Done well, it gives customers a faster way out and gives your team time back.
Many shoppers would rather scan and pay on their own than wait in line, especially for a handful of items.
Every self-checkout station is another place to pay, without adding staffed tills or floor space.
Small baskets and top-up shops are exactly what self-checkout handles best.
Fewer people tied to the tills means more time on the shop floor, in the stockroom and helping customers.
Three ways to check out
Most stores mix them. All three run on the same items, prices and stock.
A touch screen near the exit. Customers scan or search their items, see the basket and pay.
Customers scan items as they pick them, with a self-scanning device from the store or the customer app on their own phone.
Staff take payment anywhere in the store from a handheld, to bust queues on busy days.
The kiosk, step by step
These are the real Raptool Self-Checkout screens. Try them yourself in the live demo →

Step 1 of 4
A clear start screen in your own look. The customer taps Start, or simply scans the first item.

Step 2 of 4
The welcome page shows the customer's name and membership points, with room for today's offers.

Step 3 of 4
Scan a barcode, press Search, or pick a category tile such as Fruit & Veg, Bakery or Dairy for items without a barcode.

Step 4 of 4
The basket keeps a running total. The customer adds a bag if needed and presses Pay.
Common worries
Raptool Self-Checkout is software, so it runs on standard touch screens and kiosks on Windows and Android. Start with one station and add more where the queues are.
Self-checkout uses the same items, prices and stock as the rest of Raptool Retail and your warehouse, and connects to your ERP or POS. Change the screens yourself in Raptool Designer.
Plan for it like any open till: keep an attendant near the stations and use cameras and weight checks where it matters. RFID tags in your labels can be added at any time.
Give people a choice: a kiosk, scan as you shop on their phone, or a member of staff with a handheld. Show membership points and offers to make the self-service route worth it.

One system
