Positioning

Find the way indoors, no scans needed

Positioning is an add-on for the Raptool Client that works out where a phone is inside a building. In a shopping mall, a visitor searches for a store and is guided there.

  • Bluetooth beacons and Wi-Fi
  • Phone sensors: accelerometer and compass
  • Search a store, get guided there
  • Android first

What it is

A phone that knows where it is

Positioning is indoor positioning and wayfinding for the Raptool Client. It combines Bluetooth beacons and Wi-Fi access points with the sensors already in the phone, the accelerometer and the compass.

The first use case is wayfinding in shopping malls and similar venues. A visitor searches for a store and gets guided there, without scanning a single barcode. Positioning is under development and in pilot, and it comes to Android first.

  • Beacons, Wi-Fi and phone sensors work together
  • No barcode scans for the visitor
  • Built as an add-on for the Raptool Client

What you get

Wayfinding built on what you already have

Positioning uses signals that are in the building and sensors that are in the phone.

Beacons and Wi-Fi

Bluetooth beacons and Wi-Fi access points tell the phone what is nearby.

Phone sensors

The accelerometer and the compass fill in the gaps and show which way the visitor is heading.

Search and get guided

The visitor searches for a store and is guided there, step by step.

Venue maps

Build the venue with rooms, corridors and the beacons placed where they hang.

Licences per floor

Venue licences are counted per floor.

Android first

Positioning comes to Android first, as an add-on for the Raptool Client.

How it works

Map it. Place it. Guide them.

From an empty floor plan to a visitor who finds the store.

Map the venue

Draw the rooms and corridors of each floor in the venue map.

Place the beacons

Put the beacons on the map where they are installed. Wi-Fi access points help too.

Search and follow

The visitor searches for a store in the Raptool Client and follows the route on the phone.

Who it is for

For places where people get lost

Big buildings with many rooms are easy to get lost in. Positioning shows the way.

Shopping malls

Help visitors find the store they are looking for, without asking at the desk.

Similar venues

Any building with many rooms, corridors and floors where guests need directions.

Venue operators

Map the venue once and license it per floor.

Multi-floor buildings

Each floor gets its own map and its own licence.
